OUR HISTORY
Woodside on the Move was founded on September 24, 1976 with the mission to improve the conditions of the Woodside commercial district. During the first 10 years the organization ran under the leadership and vision of Mr. Kevin Mahon. His foresight and vitality steered WOTM to become a leading force in the revitalization of the Woodside community. The organization developed programs to improve Woodside’s housing, industry, and commerce and provided the community with free cultural performances, as well as recreational and educational activities for children.
Today we have become a leading force in NYC tenant advocacy initiatives as part of the Queens chapter of the housing coalition Stabilizing NYC and one of the largest free after school and summer camp providers in the city, serving over 800 elementary school children in the community.
