Our mission is to preserve affordable housing units in Woodside and throughout Queens.
What do you do?
Our dedicated Organizing team provides the community with the necessary tools to enforce their rights as tenants both in their building and the community as a whole.
We do this through Know Your Rights workshops, education outreach, housing workshops, legal clinics, research and policy as well as local and citywide coalition building.
-
Addressing the apartment unit and the building repairs and neglect. We’re here to advocate on your behalf regarding landlord to tenant harassment.
-
A strong tenant association can force a landlord to listen, provide heat/hot water and make repairs.
The tenants can have more leverage to negotiate, file complaints with the city and state agencies that oversee housing, get help from elected officials, go to court, or initiate a rent strike.
-
WOTM has partnered with Queens Legal Service and Communities Resist’s housing attorneys to provide 1:1 legal consultation.
